Dr. Cate Hummel

Cate Hummel founded Dr. Cate's Flute Camp in 2000. She has large private studios in Naperville, Oswego, St. Charles and Carpentersville, IL. Earning a reputation as one of the most successful flute instructors in Chicagoland, every year she has students who go on to be performance and music education majors at music schools and universities in Illinois and around the country. She has performed numerous times in the Chicago area including performances on the Dame Myra Hess Series at the Cultural Center, Harold Washington Library Orpheus Series, Fourth Presbyterian Church Lunchtime Concerts, and for the Musicians Club of Women. As winner of the Artists International Young Artists Competition, she was presented in a debut in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Cate received her DMA and MM degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and BM from the Philadelphia College of the Performing Arts.

 

Leighann Daihl

Leighann Daihl currently teaches and freelances on both modern and historical flutes throughout the U.S. She recently spent 2009-2010 as a Fulbright Scholar in the Netherlands studying Baroque flute at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Wilbert Hazelzet. Before that, Ms. Daihl received two master's degrees at the Jacob's School of Music at Indiana University, where she studied modern and historical flutes, as well as earning her bachelor's degree in flute from DePauw University. Ms. Daihl was also fortunate enough to spend a year abroad intensely studying flute with the the renown pedagogue, Trevor Wye. In addition to playing and teaching, Ms. Daihl is an advocate for bringing early music to underprivileged communities throughout Southern Indiana by coordinating the �Early Music in the Libraries Program� for the non-for-profit group, Early Music in Motion.

Stefanie Lindsay

Stefanie Abderhalden is currently a graduate student at Illinois State University studying Flute Performance. She is a graduate assistant and student of Kim Risinger. Before attending ISU, she studied with Cate Hummel. Stefanie earned her Music Education degree from ISU in May of 2009. She is currently section leader of ISU�s Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra and plays in various chamber groups as well. In 2011 Stefanie was winner of Illinois State�s Band Concerto competition. In 2010 Stefanie was named honorable mention in ISU�s Concerto-Aria competition as well as a 2nd place winner in the Illinois Flute Society�s Ensemble competition. In 2008 she was 3rd place winner of the Kentucky Flute Society�s Collegiate competition. Stefanie has taught all ages and levels of flutists and has been a private instructor at the Metcalf Music Academy and the Music Shoppe in Normal, Illinois.

 

Laura Jelinek

Laura is a graduate of Wartburg College in Waverly, IA where she received a Bachelor of Music Education.  She teaches middle school band in the Joliet school district.   She has played flute from a young age and now performs with the Fox Valley Concert Band in Geneva, IL.  She currently studies flute with Cate Hummel.  She is a member of MENC and the National Flute Association and has an active flute studio both in Joliet and Naperville.  She lives in Naperville with her dogs.
